June 19 on the "PINTA"
Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 7:47PM It was Mahvelous! Simply Mahvelous!
The sea, the weather, and the underwater conditions were “mahvelous” all day as the John Jack took an animated group of 14 divers from Scuba Venture (Reading, PA; http://www.scubaventure.net/) to the shipwreck Pinta. The Pinta was a freighter that sank in 1963 after being T-boned by a much larger ship. The Pinta, now lying on her port side in 85 fsw, is a short ride from the marina and an ideal destination for a wreck class or to make your first dive on an East coast shipwreck. To wit, Eric Began made his 10th dive yesterday and his first dive on a shipwreck under the watchful eye of divemasters Rich Rupp and Terry Franke. Crew member Gerhard was taking photos of the deck action and many of the divers coming up the ladder, while crew Larry Cohen and two customers were taking underwater photos. Capt. Terry proved he was no slacker by helping Capt. Rich drive the “bus,” helping the customers gear up, spearing a dozen sea bass, and “pulling the hook.” Capt. Rich showed off his kitchen skills by preparing the cold cut and cheese platter lunch, the right meal for a warm day.
All told, it was Mahvelous!
