Crew Meeting
Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 9:02PM Owner and Captain Rich Benevento held court at the John Jack Seagoing Adventures inaugural crew meeting, which was held on February 27 at Captain Bill Aberle's house. This meeting was the first opportunity for the crew, new and old, to hear Rich fully describe his vision for the “new John Jack.” If I had to sum up the 2010 edition of the John Jack in a single word, it would be “spit and polish with the customers always coming first.” OK, that was more than one word, but this single theme permeated the entire meeting, which lasted 4 hrs but didn't seem like a minute longer than 3:59. The crew is a mixture of mostly old hands and a few new faces that, collectively, includes an engineer, two computer/web geeks, a professional underwater photographer, and a nurse, not to mention seven captains. The expertise of the web geeks is clear not only on John Jack web site, but also with the ability to upload your own trip reports to the boat’s website, and to be notified of blowouts and other time-critical schedule changes via Twitter. Other big changes for 2010 include Monday dives and Wednesday night dives. In 2010, John Jack’s dive schedule caters to the recreational diver with trips scheduled for “the usual suspects” such as the Stolt, Pinta, and Algol, as well as wrecks that few boats visit. We have overnight trips to the Oregon and San Diego, a couple of weeks of day trips to the wrecks off Block Island (NY), Atlantic City (NJ), and two expeditions to the Andrea Doria. Captain Rich Benevento would be happy to talk to you about how the John Jack can meet your individual diving needs as well as those your dive shop or dive club.
